The Old Republic
Hey again!
I've been sitting here, doing a couple of minor things, and waited for my The Old Republic game client to finish updating. But I started running out of minor things and the update seems to take forever, so why not write a quick post? ;)
Tova's out driving around with a friend of hers, and I'm patiently waiting for her to come home again. While she's been away I decided to write a couple of emails, go through some financial stuff and just browse around. After a while I realized though, that The Old Republic beta is up this weekend, and I was lucky enough to get in ^_^ (we'll just ignore the fact that pretty much everyone can get into this weekend test if they just opted in for beta testing a while back.. I'm still special! :o) So I launched the client I already conveniently installed in advance to avoid waiting times, but that didn't really go as planned because there's that thing called patches. So right now I'm waiting for that to finish.
I don't think I'll be playing much though, especially not tonight. I'll probably not even get inside the game tonight, but I just want to take the opportunity to get a quick first look at it.
I like Star Wars, and this game is really hyped up, but I'm still not that excited about it. There's been loads of MMOs that were hyped before launch, and now you barely hear about them. Like Age of Conan, Warhammer and Rift. Maybe ToR is good enough to avoid joining that list.. or maybe it isn't. No matter which one proves to be correct, I wont be playing it in the foreseeable future. Unless you count this short beta of course.
Time constrains and especially money and computer power constrains just makes it tough. It's a game I want to try out, and I think it might be fun (even just for a while), but currently it's not a very great idea to invest in a new MMO that will cost money and time. A MMO that probably wont be extremely enjoyable either due to my current hardware. Sure I could run it, but I'm quite picky nowadays. I want the game experience to feel great, or I wont afford spending my time with it.
Maybe later though. If a trial pops up, school ends and someone upgraded my PC without me knowing about it.. I'd give it a shot
